Does buying a dog collar seem a little complicated to you? BeauJax Boutique has taken the guess work out of fitting a collar for your dog! In only 4 easy steps, you can find your dog's proper neck size and you will be on your way to ordering his or her new collar!
1. Measure the size of your dog's neck.
Use a soft tape measure, if possible; if you don't have a tape measure, you can use string, ribbon or a leash to measure your dog's neck and then measure against a ruler to get the size.
2. Find the proper location on your dog's neck to measure:
As you are measuring, make sure you can fit at least two fingers underneath your measuring unit.
3. Ask yourself this question: Why am I getting a collar for my dog?
Is it for identification purposes only? Is it for looks? Is it for agility training? The answer to this question is very important and could possibly be the most important step because every collar was made for a particular "wear" in mind. For example, if you are looking for a pretty leather collar for your princess, a leather collar would be great for everyday wear, but would likely not be very comfortable for your dog if they were wearing it for agility training or trials. For agility purposes, your dog would need a collar with a little more give, such as one with nylon or bamboo webbing and a clip buckle design.
